I put gas in the carb turned over and pumped. Its not starting or puffing. I never started a car this age before? How would i get it to start quick? P.S the fuel pump (Non-electric) works great and was running 3 years before storage.

You first need to remove plugs and check for compressions. Start by squirting some oil in each hole and winding engine over, then put your finger over each hole in turn and check that it is blown up by the compression stroke. If no compression most likely cause is stuck valves. If this is so, then you can try squirting WD40 or CRC or similar penetrating oil in hole, and then with a drift, tap the valves down, and repeat until they go up and down . From then on it's a case of checking spark, carburettor, and timing, and it should go. Good luck,

  • Ahhh of course stuck valves maybe. Never would have thought of that I guess it being a flat head the valves would get stuck over time thanks a lot.
