Rocker/ Skirt stainless for 1950 Hudson Commodore

I've painted my rockers and skirts and have buffed most of the stainless. What is the trick to the lower stainless to go on the factory clips (1950 Hudson Commodore)?

take a razor blade and strip off the paint of the clips on the outside. Use WD 40 and the palm of your hand to knock on... not always easy start from back forward

Thanks Russ, I'll give that a try. I'd thought about that, but wanted a more professionla method and I got it.
