The car turned over before but when i took the drivers side fender off (for repair) the starter would not turn over

It seems to got power and all is good?

While removing the fender i had to unbolt the silioned, generator regualter and coil

I grounded these items to the frame and all have power

The starter has been rebuild last year?

I tried to take a screw driver to touch both terminals on the silionod put all it did was heat up/spark

Also one possible problem the origional owner a french guy grounded the batterie to the back trunk hatch?

Maybe because of this the fender needs to be placed to complete the circuit?

Also whats the origional grounding location of the positive terminal the frame or block?

The battery should be grounded to both the engine and the body. Usually this is done in two stages: the ground strap goes from the battery to a place on the frame or body, and then a strap runs from the body or frame, to the engine block, transmission or bell housing. (Depending upon the year).
  • The year is a 54' canadian made thanksi dont have the origional strap the owner but a big 4 gauge wire though?

The positive cable grounds at the bolt that goes thru the left front motor mount, or to a stud on the front of the battery tray and then to the motor mount.
  • Thanks il try doing this
