Where is Dave Kastelic?

Does anyone know how to get a hold of Dave Kastelic? I haven't seen him on the forum for a while. I sent him a PM, but not sure if he will get it. I thought I had his e-mail, but couldn't locate it.

He is/was in the process of restoring a '38 112 Convertible.

O.k., that puts 2 and 2 together. I wanted to contact him to let him know that there was a 112 convertible at the National, and had he seen it? LOL!!

I haven't seen any updated pics from him in a while and didn't realize he had it on the road.

I thought the brougham's had the quarter window for the back seat? The convertible coupe's did not. Did they just not include the window?

Yep, as I understand it, the convertible coupe was listed as a 3-passenger car (no back seat) and the brougham was listed as a 6-passenger. With that top that way, it would be like being in a '40 Ford in that if you were in the back seat and going down the road, you pretty much couldn't see much of anything with the top up!

Also, I noticed that the car only had one taillight, which, I thought, by '38, most cars were going with dual lights and electric direction indicators were coming into vogue (usually as an option at this point). So I thought that was a little odd, but not out of the realm of possibility, I suppose.

I'm pretty sure (if I remember right), Dave's 'vert is the same color as this one.

1938 was a banner year for Hudson, who, had no less than 56 different models of passenger cars and 16 different commercial models. WOW! That's a lot of models.

Well, regardless, it's a beautiful automobile. I've become a real fan of the '42's and the '38's.

Well, I'm sorry I didn't finally get to meet him. I've talked to him some on the phone and a lot of e-mails. I remember when he was regularly posting on the forum about his progress, we had pretty much decided he had one of the last (if not THE last) 112 convertible coupe. It's good to know there's one a brougham in MO and there's also a 112 CCoupe in Europe (Denmark, I think?). Really interesting cars, I love the shorter wheelbase. Didn't realize how stark the interiors were, either. I'm sure that was due to the 112 being the low-priced model.

That's good to hear about the other '38. I'm a firm believer in leaving them original as long as possible. Restore them when it's time, preserve when you can . . . they are only original once.

Russell - There is also a '38 or '39 112 convertible coupe' in Ohio in mostly original condition. Needless to say it does need some tender loving care to be road ready, but does not need anything major - owned by Michal Sheridan in southwest Ohio

I was in Gettysburg Thursday and Friday. The '38 convertible there is owned by a gentleman from Missouri, not me. His is a brougham, not a coupe, just as Rick explained. I somehow missed your message Russell. Sorry. I have had to take my restoration to another shop for various reasons. The progress has been a little slow lately but it is about to get going again and I will get out some pictures as soon as there is progress. I inquired about you when I was in Gettysburg Russell but was told you were not there. Hope this was not bad info. By the way, I really enjoyed the National and meeting folks from the Forum.

Sorry about my false posting earlier. When I saw the yellow '38 112 convertible it never occurred to me that it could be anything other than Dave's! Didn't even bother to inquire.

Some of you will remember "Terraplane Kelly"s '42 Super Six convertible, which also did not have a quarter window in the top. Don't know if that was all the Super 6s or an option.
