rear glass
Correct me if I am wrong, the rear glass on the club coupes is the same for 52 to 54s but the 51 club coupes were differant and will not fit. There is a fella on Ebay with a rear window for a club coupe, but he is not sure if it is from a 51 or 52(53). He seems honest and is in Erie Pa. Start is $50. Ron

.THE GUY YOUR TALKING ABOUT IS THE OLD RACER HE HAD THIS GLASS AT THE NATIONAL MEET AND HE IS A GOOD GUY AND HONEST AS THE DAY IS LONG0

Thanks Paul, We have had a pleasant talk. The problem is that he is not sure if the glass is from a 52 or a 51 coupe. He gave me measurements which sound correct but I believe the 51 is really close but a bit smaller. There is no logo on the glass to match mine( 53 PPG code). And I still don't know the condition. He said he was at Gettysburg. Does any one recall the condition? He says he will trash it if no one buys it. Bob'sClassic glass has no plans to repop a B-249. I'm a bit surprised that no one grabed it at the National. Ron0

Ron,
Have him make a paper template of the glass and mail it to you. You can then lay the paper template on your glass to see if it is the same size.

FYI
To clarify, I put the rear windows on E Bay trying to find them a home rather then discarding. I saved them many yrs ago and brought to the National with little interest so there is no point in re stocking up on my mezzanine. Apparently they are so strong they never need replaced...
Another problem is shipping. The larger window will need shipped FED X or UPS, which is expensive, because USPS does not ship Pkg's over 56" length, (I checked their OnLine calculator), which extra boxing would require. All the windows came from a Cpe and thought '50 was different (small) and '51=53 were identical. It fits over my '53 as far as I can tell without scratching the car.
Since I rarely throw anything away i'll probably sit on the glass outside awhile then try the White Triangle as Ron suggested.
Thanks Paul for the nice comment about my integrity....0 -
You can ship those type items Greyhound freight quite reasonable. Little more inconvienient but most towns of any size have a bus station,

Racer, I should have known we were all HET folks. I'm in my 21st year & a charter Grand Canyon member and Long Island before that. Small world. Did you inquire the cost with UPS? Interesting Greyhound idea from Roger. Wonder what that cost is? Couldn'tmake Gettysburg this year due to prior committment. Be at Frisco in 130

Racer sent you a message. I think?0

I send doors and fenders Via Grehound for say $75.00 when the UPS quote was $200.00

If anyone interested I have very good rear window from 1951 Hornet SEDAN as for Greyhound a couple of years ago I purchased a '52 Hornet hood and had it shipped via Greyhound and I believe cost was around $50.-

Ive used Greyhound for bulk items like hood & fenders too, and not opposed for packaged glass to save money...0

Do you crate up the doors & fenders for shipping. Or ship them as is. Just wondering how carefully Grayhound handles them.

Thr fenders were only parially wrapped with cardboard. Greyhound worked well for shipping large panels0

I totaly wrap them in bubble wrap and put cardboard on corners .They are not going to toss it around too much because it goes in with luggage. That is mainly why they want it copletely covered so luggage is not harmed. And so no sharp edges are there to cut one of the handlers. I learned the hard way - first time my item was refused and had to go home and repack it.

Thanks for the reply Olracer and Tallent R.
