Idle adjustment on Pacemaker

This may be a stupid question, but is idle adjustment on Pacemaker carbs done with the throttle rod on the left side of the engine? I tried moving it some but got no change in idle so wasn't sure if my guess was right.

There is bolt/screw with a 1/4" hex head on the linkage that is attached to the carb. The linkage rod that comes across the block attaches to the section.

The bolt has an angle that makes the head angle downwards and in towards the block. BE CAREFUL when adjusting with a warm/hot and operating engine. A ratchet wrench with 3 degrees of swing works nice here.

Do you mean the idle speed, or the idle mixture?

I mean the idle control. I know that the richness mixture screw is on the right side at the bottom of the carb. My idle (or rather the car's) is a bit low and I would like to adjust it up a bit. A mechanic friend suggested the adjustment could be in the linkage on the left side.

Just follow your nose from the linkage that controls the throttle. There is an adjustable screw that rests against the stop, sitting at a 45 deg. angle, at the rear of the carburettor. There is a picture of it on page 21 of the Engine tune-up section of the 1950 Mech. Procdure Manual.

Yes, Geoff, I spotted it today. Had to adjust my glasses a bit to see it. It is at such an angle and in a tight space that I wonder how to get ahold of it. Pacemaker500 mentioned how to get at it but it still appears nearly impossible. I may have to get a special tool for that. Why couldn't they have put the adjustment on the other side of the carb so one can get at it?
