Hey guys. This is the only piece of trim I am missing on my car, this is the pass. side lower fender. Also here is a pic of rear end, how do I tell what it is and are there numbers on it that will tell me the gear ratio?

Contact Hudzilla, Lance Walker hornetlw@yahoo.com123, (remove the 123) for the trim. If the rear in question is Hudson and it has not been apart, there should be a tag one of the bolts which is imprinted with the ratio. Otherwise place a mark on the tire and a mark on the driveshaft and count the number of times the drive shaft turns to one revolution of the tire. Divide the numbers to get the rear end ratio.

It's easier to jack one wheel and turn it 2 turns and count the shaft turns. If standard transmission, it should come out 4:11, 4:56, or if automatic, in the 3:?? range
  • You have a Hudson rear. The only rear ends that have a tag are the spicer rears (1954). The Hudson rear has the ratio stamped on the case on the pumpkin housing in the upper left quadrant. Clean it up real good and you can see it if you look carefully.

Note that the ratio is not expressed directly ... the stamped numbers show the number of teeth on the ring and pinion gears (Ex: 37/9) , so you have to do the math to convert that to the ratio figure.
