Ron,
Would this fit in the 48-49 housing that used the cylindrical oil wetted aluminum foil filter/Non-Oil Bath?

Drew, are you refering to the DRY twin H air cleaners? Originaly these used a steel "wool" filter that was to be cleaned with kero, dried and sprayed with a light oil. The principal was similar to KN only they sucked. The other type was truly wet. Kind of a round drum sitting in a pan of 30W oil. KN makes a fine filter, albeit costly. Many of us use paper filters(throwaways) for drivers and if you do have the original mesh ones, keep 'em for show points if you plan to show you car. Takes a few minutes to turn off the wing nut and swap them back. The KN costs about $37 each at Summit Racing. Paper @ $15 ea.0
