The caption for this publicity photo reads as follows:

"Henry Sheldon, Chicago policeman, breaks a bottle of sparkling Burgundy over 'A Century of Progress Ranger' officially launching a Hudson Terraplane Coach on a ruggedness run, which will cover four states. The test will continue two weeks and the car is expected to roll up a year's mileage in that time. Sheldon, who resides at 5705 Seminole ave., was the winner of a contest in which the name of the car was selected."

The 1933-34 Century of Progress Exposition took place in Chicago. Hudson had a booth at the fair, at which patrons could view themselves on the then-new electronic marvel of television.

1934 Wisconsin license plate on the car. I grew up in Chicago. The cops there in the '50s looked just as heavy as old Henry here.
Note the "pinstripe" white line (certainly not "whitewall") Goodyear tire. From what I can find these were a unique offering only during late 1932 into mid 1934.
Also, though it may have been specially applied on this promotional car, the double beltline body ribs have been painted the full width of the two spears in a light, contrasting color and afterward single pinstriped down their centers. Not seen on production cars
