Help
I had an issue with the title to my 52 Hollywood and Colorado won't take it. It needed to be notorized, and the original seller had died years ago. The car has changed hands a few times and nobody ever bothered to get a fresh title........now I know why. Anyone have a spare sitting around? Message, email or call.... ski4life65 at hotmail.com or 3zero3 902_2532 I have checked with few of the usual suspects but no luck yet.

Thanks
Don Crane

I have tried the bonding route....sent registered letters to previous owner addresses, jumped through all of the hoops, but no luck with the State of Colorado. The original owner sold the car to someone in Michigan....he then signed the title but never bothered to take it to the DMV to transfer into his name. He died and his wife sold the car to another guy........then I got it. Since the title was signed by some buyer other than me, I can not get it in my name no matter what I do. The only option is to come up with another clear title. The lesson here is, always get the title put in your name ASAP. You may die and the next guy is up a creek ;-)

Thanks Roy and Bill for the titles I got for my other projects.

JeffCo wasn't too big of a hassle. All I had for my Hornet was the California pink-slip from 1989 signed by the previous-previous seller. I had to get a certified VIN check at the State Patrol, but that wasn't bad. JeffCo DMV didn't give me a problem. Hell, my 1965 Chevy truck didn't even have a title, and I figured I would have to jump through all those hoops but I think I just had to fill out another form and submit with my handwritten bill-of-sale.

Find a club member in a state where you can get a title with a bill of sale. I did this for a couple of club members when I lived in Maine. They sent me a bill of sale for the car which I took to the registry. Since Maine didn't require titles in the past all I had to do was tell them I was selling the car in a title required state and pay $50 for a title using the info on the bill of sale. Then I "sold" the car back to the owner and signed the title over to him.
Yeah, it's a risk - but there are maybe - I said MAYBE - two people in the HET club who would show up at your house telling you they are there to pickup their car.
