TwinH Air cleaners

Hello fellow Hudson lovers. Its been awhile since I have been on here but I hope all is well. I have a pair of Twin H air cleaners. They are in excellent condition. I'm looking to trade for a set of Twin H air cleaners for my 53 Hudson super wasp. I know these will fit but I really don't want to have to angle the back one. I would like to keep the parallel for cosmetic reasons. If you have a set, in the same condition, please feel free to drop me a line. Thanks for looking and I hope you have a wonderful, but safe new year.

The twin H aircleaners for a Wasp, Super Wasp and a Hornet are usable on all models. (dry and oil bath) While the Twin-H intake manifold for a Hornet will fit the Hudson 232, 262 engines found in the short hood models it is actually not the manifold the factory provided to dealers for these cars. The 232 and 262 manifold is a different part and it places the carburetors closer together as well requiring the use of a different WA1 carburetor. Using the correct manifold with the correct twin H aircleaner brackets for a short hood car will allow you to install the cleaners in parallel vis a vis cocked. Also note; Hudson published a supplement to its original Twin-H installation bulletin, which instucted the dealer mechanics on how to move the vacuum wiper motor so the rear Twin H air cleaner would properly install. This bulletin was first published in a Hudson Mechandiser.

The attached picture is a modification that Paul Schuster made to the rear air clearner. His Pacemaker has a 308 installed and maintains the vacuum wiper motor in the factory position.
  • Thank you for the information. I'm glad I don't need to mess with trading because these are in mint condition. Thank you again.
  • I have a '53 Super Wasp with Twin H and the rearmost air cleaner (dry) is angled in order for it to fit with no other modification. This makes me wonder if some Hudson dealers used what was available at the time to fit the Twin H setup on a Wasp (In my case a 308 Twin H intake manifold was apparently used). Admittedly, having the air cleaners being parallel to each other looks better, but the angled setup avoids having go through the trouble of repostioning the wiper motor.
