Request- Would like to view clear pictures of 1952, 1953 and 1954 Wasp Door Panel uphostery. I suspect many of the visitors to this site have interior pictures of these years and model cars taken when they still were wearing factory original uphostery. I would like to view and capture these photos for an archive I am assembing for future restoration activities. Partial panel pictures are okay too, but need you to tell me what year and model. Thanks in advance for all assistance.

I'm in Montreal for now but should be back in Compton on the second. My car is a 54 Super Wasp and my parts car is a 53 Super Wasp. Don't know if Super Wasp and Wasp are the same but will post the pics anyway. Hope it will help. Michel

@Oldfarmer1947: I was able to get some snaps this morning. The 4 first pictures show the 53 doors. Front driver's side, close-up to front driver's side, back driver's side and back passenger's side. The 2 others are from the 54. Back left driver's side and back right passenger's side. Sorry, there are no panels on my 54 front doors...I think that, apart from the material, 53 and 54 looks like the same model. Hope this help. Michel

@Snailslayer; Nope, this is not Hornet, my two cars are Super Wasp. as it was written before.
But, from your part, I can understand that Super Wasp is different from Wasp, but similar to Hornet? You may be right on this one. Michel

Is the "Wasp" badge on the door panel for 53-54 only?
  • Kerry, yes for 53-54 there was the 'WASP' badge. In 1952 the Wasp had a badge that said '127' as an indicator of horsepower.

I have a 54 Hornet Special that came with Wasp interior. It is the same as photos.

I need to find a pair of the "127" badges for the 52 Wasp sedan I am working on.
Anyone have a good pair for sale?

The '54 Hornet Speical came from the factory with the same interior as the Super Wasp, including clasp type latches on the front vent windows, and a solid one piece rear seat back (no 16" wide arm rest).

This is a little off topic, but does anyone know where to get windlace that matches the windlace shown in a couple of the pictures? I have a '53 Hornet but maybe other years are the same.

I am also looking for the diamond pattern windlace for a brown interior. SMS says they dont have but would make it with a sample.

On our 54 Hornet Hollywood it come from the factory with Brown cord cloth with tiny white s diamonds. I had SMS reproduce the material. Our car came with the brown cloth windlace with diamond pattern. Cloth wind lace on front hinge piller and brown plastic covering on rear quarter post. I have a small piece of the original brown diamond windlace. It is dirty and very fragile. Some of it shows a good pattern. What the proper shade of brown color would be up to SMS. What would you like me to do with it. Hudsonly Ray

    Duncan,
Can you recall the order number or other identification about the SMS material. If so, I could give them that information and they could then reproduce more of it for me. If so please send me an e-mail at HETedwardjohnsr@aol.com. Drop the HET from the e-mail address. Alternatively,if you don't mind parting with the small peice, I would gladly reimburse you for mailing costs.

    Thanks for the reply,
    Ed
