When my '54 H.Cp. was restored over 30 years ago, this steering wheel was a NOS one I bought from the infamous Garth Peterson. I recently had a new one recast and the wheel in this photo is for sale. It's a very nice wheel but not perfect. If anyone is interested, email me directly as the pm feature here does not work for me for some reason. Here's a closer picture
  • What a nice really looking steering wheel, the color is beautiful. Does the new one have that same richness to the color? I also purchased a steering wheel (green) from Garth years ago for my 54, I still have it as a spare.

  • The new one is more the pure ivory before the aging process brings on the slightly "yellowed" hue.
  • yeah, except it looks kind of cool on the steering wheels
  • I had Rob Fayette cast a new ivory steering wheel for my coupe. Rob does OUTSTANDING work. That's why this original steering wheel is for sale.
  • Rob:Are you able to caste a 54 Maroon Steering wheel yet?
  • Hudson Grandpa-

Yes, he can. I would give him a call, or e-mail him.
  • THIS WHEEL WILL ALSO FIT 55 HUDSON
  • Thanks for the great endorsement Steve (Arkie Jazz). I appreciate it.

Hudson Grandpa, I do have the 54 steering wheel mold finished and completed a nice Ivory 54 wheel for Steve. By the end of 2012, I had been working on Steering wheels, almost non stop for, 7 months. I now have the Pacemaker , 51-53 Hornet , and 54 Hornet steering wheel molds completed. After working so hard, I'm going to take a break from Steering wheels for a while. I want to concentrate on getting my convertible ready to drive to the National in July. It still needs a top and still has some mechanical issues.
I might not be ready to do more steering wheels until after the National. It could be sooner, its just hard to predict right now.

As far as doing a Maroon steering wheel, I still haven't gotten the color matching figured out yet, so I'm not prepared to do a maroon wheel that matches the original Hudson maroon. I definitely want to get the capability to match Hudson colors. Matching colors is an important part of being able to supply Hudson folks with the parts they want. I have spent several hundred dollars on the pigments and tools necessary to do the color matching but I haven't learned how to do it yet. I wish I could you give you an approximate date as to when I'll be ready to match colors, but I just can't do that yet. I know I keep saying I will get the color matching figured out, and I will.
