When did the wheels go from being riveted to welded that were used on the stepdown?

    Must have been with the stepdowns ... my'47 wheels were riveted.

    Probably after Hornets on the race tracks started pulling the centers out of the rims in turns. Just a thought.

    I can't find info in any book stating the change or when it happened?
    It would be nice with the welded ones so tubeless tires could be used.
