G'Day , Can anyone help with a set of locks and keys to suit a 1947 Hudson Super six, that is two sets one for each side, these are for a guy overseas and is in need of same, he also is looking for a 501S carburetor to suit the same vehicle.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Huddy, have you checked with Al Safrahn? He's had many '41-'47 parts cars.
  • I found some in the past at a local HotRod shop that were universal and almost Identical. Shaft too long but fit just like original. Might check your local HotRod place down there,

  • Thanks Park, have not checked with Al will check him out.

Huddy42, you are welcome. I bought a pair from this ad a couple months ago for my PUs that were missing locks. I believe there were 10 locks available at that time. I was excited when I first saw the ad. For years it seemed I was always one step behind someone else buying a lock, and none had any keys. Good luck.

  • If you have a good lock a real locksmith can make keys for it . About the same price as the one on Ebay probably

  • I had a local locksmith make keys for my 47 at $5 ea. He also came to my house and made a key for my 33 locking gas cap, charged a bit more for that though. He was there an hour (it was rusted on), and charged $40. Works great now though...
  • yeah , the price will vary of course .You just cant go to a regular key grinder in a hardware store,

  • When the locksmith came to the house to make one ignition key for my PU it cost $65. The door lock was missing at the time. Now I have a door lock and key for both trucks. I'm a happy camper. That reminds me, my Dads 46 had a camper shell. Don't know if I want to go that route.
