Items of interest for those of you coming to the Golden Gate International Meet.

went out yesterday to have a look around the neighborhood where we're having the meet.
plenty of handy stores within walking distance, including 7-11, Trader Joe's, and a Rite-Aid drug store. a little bit farther but still well within reach is a U.S. Post Office, which is next door to AAA, and there's a K-Mart on that same street.

go to Google maps, and type in 1770 South Amphlett Boulevard, San Mateo, CA.
then you can zoom in and it will show you where everything is.

and of course, downtown San Mateo as well as San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Marin County are all just a short drive away.

here's an interesting article I found earlier, showing some neat stuff for those of you that want to go exploring by yourselves. be warned however, it isn't easy finding parking spaces most of the time.

Thanks for the tip. do you know how far is it to the Cal Train station from the hotel? Is there parking at the Millbrae BART station?

it's about 1/2 mile to the Caltrain station, less if you don't leave from the front door of the hotel.
Caltrain and BART stations usually have adequate parking, especially on weekends.
