Old pictures of a '39 Convertible in the UK

Sorting out in the loft today I found a bunch of pictures and tucked away in there were these. I don't remember where the car was but seem to recall that it was just left to fade away. I'm hoping that I'm wrong there but I don't recall ever seeing this car on the road

My old buddy Lester may remember better than me what its eventual fate was. How I'd like to come across a car like that today!

Anyway enjoy

  • Thanks for the pics, Paul!

  • Looks like it's a Country Club & of course can't tell if it's a 6 or 8 cyl., but you can count the # of '39 CC conv. we know of here in the U.S. on 1 hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • As you can see as well the headlights had had the usual modifcations ; who knows what they had been taken from. The normal trick was to weld a couple of headlight buckets off anything that was available to fit sealed beam units
  • Looks like a Hudson Six 92 brougham convert.
On a CC the Bonnet side panel has a glass ornament light at the end of the s/s spear.
Looks like this model has a chromed spear which would make it Hudson Six 92.
Pacemaker 91 had the same spear but I do not think they made any brougham converts.
  • Thanks for posting, Paul. I noticed those headlights, right off. I'm with you, would love to find something like this sitting around.

Kel 39- Believe you are correct.
  • Thanks to both of you for the pics. Those 39s always get my blood pumping!!!!
except the "frog eye" tail lights on cps and convt.s LOL
  • Hey! The "frog eye" tail lights look good on this 1930 Henderson Streamliner! LOL

  • It was common practice to put a conversion kit for the head lights to use sealed beam lights. They look simular to 39 Fords. However, this conversion looks home made.
