  • The cork clutch is not weak , dont know why people think that . The weak spot is the input shaft on the transmission. The clutch holds well enough to twist the input shaft off the transmission if you soup the motor up ,

I have been following this discussion with interest. I cant understand why you would throw out a perfectly good 8 motor and replace it with somthing else. A friend of mine in NewZealand three years ago rebuilt his 34 8 engine then put the car in a container shipped it to the States and drove coast to coast over a period of a few months then shipped it back to NewZealand he has done many trips in the car since with few problems. These cars just love being used.
  • I certainly am not going to throw it out, just take it out and keep in my garage if I decide that route.
  • keep in mind those splasher motors built Hudsons reputation for reliability. The Modern Hudson motor is known for its NASCAR records .The NASCAR sucsess is however equaly due not just to the motor but to the Stepdown designs inherant good handling . So Both are great engines and have thier own good and bad points .
"If it aint broke dont fix it " a good moto to remember ,
