seat covers and carpet
Has anyone any advice or know of any seat upholstery kits available for a 48 4door? I'm looking to cover the seating surfaces (seat and back). The upholstery on the door panels and the front seat shell isn't too bad, but the seats are dry rotted and starting to tear all over.
I'd like to get a kit and install it myself and I don't want to spend a whole lot. I hope to restore the interior properly someday down the road. For now I'd like to make it look better, as long as it looks some what period-correct.
It has the original super 6 brown-grey upholstery with the small green and gray stripes. As the car is maroon, I could posibly go with a maroon color.
Also would like to get a carpet set. Any one know what kind of carpet would have been used- loop or cut? I know it originally came with the molded vinyl in the front. What did the commadores use? and what color would the carpet have been?
If anyone has gone this route or have any sources, please let me know.
Thanks

There are many places that make kits that you stretch over and hog ring. Club member Bob Rosol is one source. Bob has some choices that are vary appropriate looking. My 54 has had this type for about 20 years, the help of a retired upholsterer made a big difference in the way they laid compared to the typical home installations. Bob can also supply carpet kits0

Thanks for the info/advice. How can I contact Bob Rosol?
I saw that Kanter offers a kit (a little pricey) and I ordered some samples for a kit sold by Automotive Interiors and Accessories. I aslo sent an email to Pat Walsh Restorations from their ad in Hemmings.
Has anyone used any of these kits? Anyone have any installed pictures? or any links to other companies who make the kits?
Back when ('70s-80s), I installed a few kits that I got through JC Whitney. But I don't think they carry them anymore, except for pickup trucks

Pat Walsh just buys everything from the suppliers mentioned and doubles the price.0

Anyone have contact info for Bob Rosol?
I got some samples of the velour seat covers from Auto Interiors (out of Mass.) but they don't appear to have patterns for the Hudson carpet. I have Lowes indoor/outdoor in there now that I cut to fit. It looks OK, but I wanted something a little better. They have yardage available but, I assume someone has cut and sewn carpet that fits.
Anyone have any experience?
Also still looking for pictures of someone who has gone this route.

Phone number and address are listed here. Or just go to your H-E-T roster.

Years ago I ordered a carpet set for my '50C6 sedan from Canada, it tooks weeks to arrive, hassle with Canada $$, etc. When it got here it was shipped from Escondido, CA (where I live!) So I threw the box in my car and drove to the address and I discoverd Chester & Herod, Automotive Floor Carpet Kits Mfg. 1924 West Mission Rd. #F, Escondido, CA 92029 Telephone: (760) 738-4296, Fax: (760) 738-6266. Also: (800) 659-9138. These phone #'s are off of an old receipt. I have sent lots of club members to them in the years since. Jim, from Chester & Herod will be at the National in San Mateo this summer. I just took him my current WTN so he could register. He also has suppliers of seat covers and headliners. In fact he did the headliner in my '36T.0
