My 1955 Twin H engines intake has that same casting number.

Must be for a 55-56 262 as the balance tube is cast in?
  • Yes the ballance tube was internal after 54 due to space restrictions in the Nash bodies,

I forgot to mention my 55 Twin H engine is a 308 with the same intake casting number as your manifold.

It can be used , as an assembly on any 48-54 stepdown 6 cyl engine ...but a new exhaust pipe and flange will be needed. It has a larger and different angle than the stepdown Twin H. No doubt , the exhaust will flow a little better due to the larger diameter. Whatcha building Kerry? A Hornet powered Hawk? LOL

Kerry - There were no '55 - '56 262 CI engines. The only big six was the 308 CI

    Come on Dave!! (:

So this is for a 55-56 308 and I will need a 55-56 exhaust flange to use in a stepdown?
I was planning to use this on my 53 SuperWasp coupe.

Kdancy, you will need the headers as above or a complete 55-56 exhaust manifold. The iinterface between the 48-54 intake and exhaust is completely different e.g. 3 vs 4 bolts and size shape of that area
  • This manifold is the same as the one that I got from Butch Smith. The manifold is going to go on my 1956 308. Thanks Butch. Walt's garage rebuilt the Carbs. They are beautiful. Dan
  • Does the exhaust heating area need to be covered, or can it be open when using headers? Dan

Mine,(pictured above) came with a cover from the previous owner. Can't imagine why you'd have to have one though unless the heat riser area was so rusted as to leak to the intake.
