Dual pulleys needed

I'd really like to locate a dual pulley for the water pump and for the integrated balancer/dual crank pulleys for our 308. With the addition of AC on our Hornet, these pulleys are the only parts holding us back. We bought the AC compressor bracket from Joe Stinnett in FL, but he doesn't have any pulleys on hand right now.

If anyone knows where I might be able to locate them or adapt something else that will work, please let me know.

  • Why not just make them? I have welded up many multiple pulley sets. Go to the salvage yard and pick up the necessary number of single pulleys the correct diameter, cut the center out of the ones to be added, use a piece of plumbers strap (the stuff with all the holes in it) and a small bolt to center them up, spot weld them in three or four places, remove the strap and finish the weld. There is generally enough material to not need a filler rod. In the past I gas welded these, now I'd probably TIG them, either way, once you clean them up and paint them nobody will know the difference.

I have a dual pulley set up from a '55 308 that I would sell for $100.00 plus shipping. It would include the narrow generator pulley, generator brackets, water pump pulley, water pump (in need of rebuild) and the crankshaft pulley. The pulleys take a narrower belt than the standard. Let me know if you are intersted.

  • Making one is a great idea.....but would it work on the harmonic balancer? The one on my 49 is some type of funky pot metal. I know that for a fact as mine shattered when I was putting it back on and had to get a new one. Perhaps they changed them down the road, not sure.
