Grounding Fuel Sender

I have seen this mentioned many times and my Search-Fu is not working today.....
To ground the Fuel Sender in the tank, one runs a wire from one of the screws that hold the Fuel Sender in the tank to a spot nearby on the chassis, correct? And this only needs to be a 16ga or 18ga wire?
