CAN'T STAY CONNECTED TO FORUM
I'm getting kicked out of the forum and have to click back onto enternet explorer then to forum again. This has happened 5 times within the last half hour both signed in or not signed in. Anyone else having this problem? Or a solution to this problem. Thanks.

There is some kind of incompatibility between Internet explorer and this forum. Sometimes IE just kicks off but usually it coughs and then recovers the forum. It usually happens when I click on a thread. Uncle Norman used to say 'It's the little people'0

On my other computer with an earlier IE verson, from memory I had to use compatability viewing with the forum? Worth trying to see if it helps.0

Uncle Josh,
I have a 2 - 5 minute window to view the posts before being kicked all the way back to start. I have not experience any comebacks. Alway have to click back onto the forum. It is not always when I click on a post. I guess Uncle Normans 'little people' found a new home. I hope their visit will be a short one. Most annoying.
ernie28,
Could you help me out and explain what compatability viewing is and how to access it and how to use it. Pardon my lack of computer knowledge.
Thanks for any help I can get.

Hi Lee, the computer I was having this problem with was running IE8. Here is a dump shot of where the setting is on that version. Tick this when you are on the forum and view settings can be seen with the option below that.
Good luck and hopefully this helps in your instance

Just a thought, but this has been the culprit a few times in my new role. If you're running Internet Explorer (IE), at the top-right is a drop-down menu called 'Tools'. Click it, and check to make sure you are NOT running the browser in Compatibility Mode. Clicking it in this menu toggles the Compatibility Mode on and off. See if either setting makes things better for you.
Also, and this has been said before, always upgrade your browsers to the latest version. Old versions of IE in particular were some pretty ordinary collections of code. Also, though it's somewhat better now, in the past IE did not follow standards that other browser software followed. Yet another reason to upgrade to the latest IE.0 -
Thanks for trying to help me, Ernie and Scotty. I tried your suggestion but did not help. Well not exactly, sometimes I get to read posts a little bit longer before being kicked off the forum and back to square one. I only have this problem with the Hudson Forum.
I'm not sure which IE browser software is in my computer. I thought it was IE8 but I'm not positive about that. Is there a way to find out?

Up in the right corner of IE (under the red x) is what looks like a gear. Click on that and scroll down to "about IE". That will tell you what version you have. On older versions loo for a HELP tab and click on that.

Is anyone having problems being kicked off while using Firefox? (I'm not.) I ask this because, when I checked my Firefox's "tools" drop-down, I found nothing called "compatibility" so I'm not sure what the advice would be for Firefox folks who have this problem.
Or, maybe they don't!0 -
I'm running FireFox 20.0 & have no problems staying on the forum for days on end. I had no problems with the previous version either!!0

More info. My comment was in response to the original post in this thread, concerning IE, not Firefox.
Compatibility Mode was created for IE8 to help it render websites written for IE6 and IE7.
Other than that, there's no reason that any browser should have an issue with the forum. However, I always advise, clear your cache often, particularly if you're doing a lot of browsing.0
