54 ,308 distributor,7D

Just replaced a IAT-4203A distributor with a #IAT-4009B. Does any one know which one is the correct one or if both of them will work? Also if the advance and cam angles are differant? The new one appears to perform better? Had a high speed miss which I am guessing to be from perhaps having the wrong distributor in the engine?

The IAT-4203A is from a '55 308 and will give you a little better performance.
The IAT-4009B is from a '51-'54 308 and is the stock distributor.
