fuel sender
I'm sure some of you noticed the original NOS fuel sender that was for auction on Ebay this past week. It was listed for a 48-54, but the box stated it was a part # 304503 for the 51-54. It sold for $132+. My question is why would some one buy a old part on a pig in a poke for 50% more than a new one from Paul S, or the least a Dennis Carpenter Ford style? At least Paul guarantees that his will work. No judge will ever care, either.

Jason at Albright has them advertise and a lot cheaper. Just goes to show that they do not read their WTN. Walt.0

What a group of snarky comments. I bought that fuel sender from Don Ski4life on ebay. I was bidding against others and the price was pushed up by the bidding. I have been slowly working on gathering parts for a 51 Commodore and I am buying the parts I need. This forum is very difficult to search since they changed the format last year which makes it somewhat difficult to locate a single thread mentioning a ford replacement. It is difficult to know what parts can be interchanged and very few places actually sell parts for the Hudsons. I am a member of HET and read this forum regularly and also get the WTN but the ads frankly aren't all that helpful. I work on other old cars and have less trouble determining which parts are needed and buying them because of help from other forums. So Ron, why don't you set up an extensive website with all possible interchanges and sources for the Hudsons and buying sources for us newbies? And you guys wonder why more people don't rebuild these cars.

My apologies, I was just curious. I felt that HET products are very difficult to restore. It is virtually a necessity to belong to these forums, and therefore have access to the folks with the parts. I bid on it also, but when the price busted $90, I folded. I thought someone might have known something that I didn't, regarding the repros. Good luck with your Commodore.0

Wait a minute, you bid on an item up to $90 when you could have bought one for 1/2 the price, lose the auction, then come on here and mention how you cannot believe someone would pay that much. Sounds like sore loserism. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.0

billrabe: Ken Cates site contains a wealth of information along with part numbers, swaps etc

Billrabe, all I can say is Hudsons are more difficult to locate parts because they are not from the Big Three. If you have a problem locating a part, or want to get a good price, by all means post your inquiry here and one or more of the multitude of very helpful Hudsonites will help you. I have only been a member for a few years, but learned quickly it is better to go through the Forum or the WTN, than through Ebay. Lesson learned. Good luck with your project!
