How many 37' Boat tail were produced? Also how many survivors are there today or is it just one listed in HET?

thanks,
Chris

There was only one year when Hudson sold a boattail and that was 1931. There were Essex boattails in '27, 29 and 31. This is a later shop-created '37 and has little to do with Hudson Motor Co. other than the original car basis. The 7X motor was also most likely created ... in a machine shop. A very curious car best appreciated at a hot rod show, certainly not among restorers.

It looks like the one Bill Albright put together years ago.

I agree that this is Bill Albright's car. It is a beautiful done custom car. The "boattail" is from the hood of a car cut to fit and painted to match. Bill loved to drive it and talk to folks about the car. Last time I saw it on the road was at the Economy run in Laughlin in the 90's. It was displayed at one of the casino's in Laughlin for a few years until Bill sold it. Think it went back East but I have not seen it since. It was a fun build--and there was only the one!!! Bill Albright Custom.
  • I believe this car is listed on Craigslist in San Diego. $42000

Definitely the car that Bill Albright built.. The "boat tail" is actually a 46/7 hood, the rear fenders are two pair with a left and a right side welded together an d trimmed to fit the body. The series of pics were taken in front of Bill's shop.
  • I like it. Looks like a fun car.
