I'm looking for some factory pictures or promotional drawings that would show the finished door panel. Can anyone help? :)

Hi, I'd sugest you contact Jack Miller in Ypsilanti at the Miller Motors Museum.AKA ypsilanti
Heritage Museum. He has a tremendous amount of factory photos and may have what you seek.
Phone number is listed in the HET Roster as well as the Museum web site.

I may have photos of original '33 T8 uph., interiors; would that be of interest? I would need to scan them then can post them here or send them to you via e-mail.

Yes, both of you! Thanks! I'm running into conflicting information. I'm wondering if the six and eight may have been different? Or if there might have been an upgraded and standard model for the eights? With so few of these cars made I'm surprised to see so many variations of the door panel. Some had the door handles up, some down. Some had a pull strap/rope, some a round door pull. Some had door pull ring in front, some in the rear. Some had door pull ring on one side only, some both, some none at all. But all seem to have the mounting riv-nuts for the pull rope on the inner door panel.

The photos I took were of one of the 2 '33 T8 conv. in the old Harrah Collection, one which was largely original. Neither were the late Deluxe model. Will try & find them later today.

So there was an up-graded model?! Were all of the later ones "Deluxe"? Or did they offer a deluxe later on in production? What was the difference?

There were two 8-cylinder models -- Standard 8 and Deluxe 8. Both designated as series KT's. Available body styles were same in both levels. Deluxe series came with radio as standard equipment, Standard did not. Spec's list the weight of Deluxe convertible as 70 lbs more than the Standard, so there may have been a couple more trinkets in addition to the radio on the Deluxes. Deluxe 8s came with the dual dashboard ash trays in the outside corners, the chrome grill insert, a pair of chrome exterior horns, fender lamps standard, two tail lights standard AND the Majestic 66 radio standard.

My early '80s E-T8 convertible coupe restoration is still owned by a Mr. Hudson who has several HET cars in Minnesota and if someone can contact him, he might provide photos. The car had loop chrome pull handles, no map pocket, no straps. I don't have his contact info any more.

A little off topic, but I learned this summer that a Deluxe 6 was also offered, which had the chrome grill inserts and larger headlamps like the 8, but unlike 8 they also had small lamps inside the headlight housing instead of the fender mounted lights.
  • I didn't now about the larger headlamps, but according to Butler's Hudson book, they had the dual ashtrays, fender lamps, 16" wheels, and external horns.

I don't think the 8 cyl large headlamps were part of the 6 cyl Deluxe equipment. What is the documentation for that?

I never saw documenation, but the owner said they were original and seemed to know the history of the car. They were the larger (10" I think ) stabilite, exactly like my T8 Deluxe but with an integral parking lamp. He had a pair on his car and a spare, all had the extra lamp. I figure with the Deluxe being later in the model year, the integral light would be a feature that would enhance a T6 Deluxe without matching exactly the T8. Not sure, but I've never seen those lights before.
  • I would think that any 33T without factory installed would have the small lights in the headlight as they needed something for parking lights. 33T8(kt) deluxe cars with parking lights do not have the small light in the h/lps. I know of a mostly original 33T6 LWB Deluxe conv/cp that has the parking lights and the small 6cyl headlights without the parking light in them.
