I found these for sale:

http://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/3692390971.html

My Hudson doesn't have the original headlights but the brackets are there, holding up some other headlights. I know most things are not interchangeable but does anybody know if the headlights listed above are from a 36 or a 37, and were they the same between the 36 Hudson and 36 Terra? Thanks.

Those are definitely not '36 Hudson or Terraplane bases and I do not think that the headlight buckets are '36 either. Yes, in '36 Hudson and Terraplane headlight buckets and bases are identical. There is a difference in the bases (stands) if they had exterior horns or not.

I'm 90% sure those are from 1937 H or T (not sure whether the buckets themselves would be would be H or T -- H is longer). Seems like a pretty penny to pay, especially since the reflectors and lenses are gone (these appear to have been converted to sealed beam lamps).

Have you tried Donald Axelrod for the headlights?

Just noticed this on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Headlights-Packard-Chevrolet-Plymouth-Dodge-Hudson-1934-35-36-37-38-39-/290891507008?hash=item43ba7c2540&item=290891507008&pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

Price is certainly better than the Craigslist one (and the fellow SAYS these are for 1936). But it still looks like these have been converted to sealed beam and there are no reflectors nor lenses. So you might better put your money towards buying a complete set with all the parts intact.

One thought: join the H.A.M.B. forum and post a "wanted" for the headlights. It's possible that someone has street-rodded a '36 Hudson and would be only too happy to get a few bucks for the original headlights and their hardware.
  • Thanks for the info, and the ebay link. I'll keep searching and maybe find a complete set.

Give Donald Axelrod a call as Jon B said. I got everything from from him for my 39. He may have what you need for a 36. Dont hurt to ask.

I got my set from Don. Great guy to work with. He spent a lot of personal time helping me get my set finished and on my car.
