Need some 46-47 gas tank parts

For a 46-47 gas tank. Does anyone know where I can get the screws that hold in the gas tank sending unit AND what size those screws are??
I had them but the slotted heads were worn (plus I misplaced them). I think they were brass and tapered but didn't have a lot of threads. Anyone know the size and what type of threads?
Also I need a new gasket for the gas tank sending unit. The one between the unit and the tank. Would I be right to assume you do not use permatex or anything like that when you put that gasket on ?

The bolts are just ordinary 10-24 x 3/4 inch long screws. The length cant be longer or they bottom out. I would just put a little permatex on the gasket if you use anything. Just don't put any type silicone on that .

Tallent, did you mean 3/8? 3/4 seems pretty long.0

I looked it up in the parts book and copied it down wrong 3/8 is correct ,6 of them. Don't know how I managed to do that I was looking right at the book @-)

Thanks for the response.... Does it say if the screws were brass or tapered? Does it matter ?0

Aaron, they're standard steel machine screws.0

Anyone have a good illustration or picture of how the gas tank is installed? When I got my 46 the tank was sitting in the trunk (all boiled and cleaned up) but looks like there are some bolts missing (I see two sticking out from the body of the Hudson & I don't see anything else). Also, looks like in the pile of trim I got there were no straps to hold the tank to the body :-O0

Sounds like you are missing the straps that go around the tank. Has a hole at one end for the bolt and a hook bent in the other to fit into a slot on the bottom of the car,

Yep as Tallent said, there's two slots under the car on the frame. Then two VERY LONG bolts that go through the trunk under the car. You put together your tank with the sending unit, jack up the car...maneuver it under there...(a small wheel dolly or car jack helps for this) hook up the sending unit wire and the gas line....get the filler neck lined up in the trunk hole...The metal tank straps get hooked in the frame and pushed under the gas tank and you attempt to get the bolts through the holes and get a nut started on them. and then tighten them up to gradually get the tank in place. (that's why they're long bolts) This is not as easy as it sounds. An extra set of hands can help. Also originally there was a piece of tar paper-like sound deadened between the tank and the body. Whether you put it back up there is up to you. As far as gas tank straps, if you don't have them I heard there was a guy in the HET club that had them reproduced in the Chicago Milwaukee chapter but I don't recall who.0

What are the gas tank straps made out of? The guy I bought the car from had literally a mountain of unlabeled parts sitting in the back and the trunk, I haven't had much time to sift through them yet0

I'd have to go out and measure one but I suppose about 1-1/2 inch wide 16 gauge strap of steel. Will be folded at the end for strength,
