A radio speaker is a radio speaker, correct? I don't need anything special for the older tube-style radio, right?

errr..., ahhh incorrect. Make sure the impedance is correct. Speakers come in 4 ohm, 8 ohm and every now and then a 16 ohm sneaks in.

The correct impedance should be marked on the old speaker.

There is also a watts capacity rating. But this should not be much of a problem for an old tube radio

Your speaker should be a 6x9", 8 ohm, with a 12 to 35 watt capacity. At one time Radio Shack sold them for under $10.00.
