I doubt this was fixed and put back on the road

We had a family visit to a museum yesterday called the British Heritage Trust which has many types of English Cars in there.

Whilst there we had a go at an interactive game that dealt with how people coped during the blitz.

Straight in front of this game was a blown up photo of what I assumed was a bombed building ; I idly glanced at it and was amazed at what I saw staring back at me :-)

    So, Paul, do you think this '39 was maybe a new car inside a car dealership? It appears to have been sitting, along with other cars inside of a building.

    That looks like a panel truck, from the shape of the roof. John Fortner could restore it. :D

    It would have to be a four door panel truck since the left rear door is open on it.

    Alex, I think it just looks like a panel because the back of the roof is square-looking due to being caved in. It's a sedan, for sure.

    @Ken

    You are correct ; the museum is just off of Junction 12 on the M40 :

    LIke you I believe the building to have been either a repair depot or a storage facility of some sort. I have emailed the people at the musuem to see if they have any more details on where the photo was taken.

    Also the story about your cousin Elmo was very interesting indeed ; always nice to see how these things can link together
  • I hope somebody saved the grille! LOL

    Those are hard to find.

    I have found out where the photo was taken. It is of the Daimler Works which was at Radford in Coventry.

    Now of course the question is why was a Hudson in there ; a workmans' car , someone visiting , Daimler looking at how Hudson made cars :-)
