I have a nice restorable Hornet for sale in MN. If anyone is really interested, send me a note and I will send picks. I don't have time to fix it up, or run adds in WTN. Just need to get her moved to a nice home, before summer gets moving along too much. Might get help later and will list correctly then, but for now, hoping I can ask on here if any interest??
Thanks, Bobby

Ken is a nice guy and I mean no malice, as I get testy from time to time these days and then vent so sorry if I offended anyone. Please send me a Private note if you have any interest in the 55 or call me at 952-447-1560 in MN. I have a nice 2 dr. Brougham 51 Pacemaker with a 262 and a 232 head, better Known as " DOC" as you can see from the avitar. It is for sale too along with a lifetime of collected parts, trannies etc. Jerre Waye may list later some day for me. But if you are interested in a half rebuilt 308 with all the parts included, cam and valves are in, call and leave a message. I will get back to all when I can. Thanks for being so understanding. This is the 55 Hudson Hornet. It did run every year, and licensed up 2011, but not the last year before I bought it and I confirmed that with some passing neighbors. They had a dead battery to replace and flat tires and did not bother to run it around town as usual that last summer. I bought it from some kids in Mankato. The car was a family thing as it was their Dad's car which they inherited. A tree limb fell on it a couple years back. The dent did not make the gasket leak, nor break the rear window, so I guess it can be pushed out without too much trouble if you have the tools. I picked it up on a tow dolly trailer. All 4 tires hold air, and it tracked great all the way home.
I will try to get it running once the weather cooperates and call you then. I see they are about $2000 + in worse shape. I will take $1000 for it as it sits. If I go to the trouble to start it, ie., change the oil & filter, replace the coolant and flush the block, pull the plugs and replace or clean, and flush carb and add a new line and remote tank, which I will not try to start it until I do, I want $1500 for it. The engine is a 308 cu.in. with a head from a 262 cu.in. engine on it.
Let me know before Memorial Day. By then I will put it in the H.E.T. Magazine. [Hudson, Essex Terraplane Club.]
For about $3000.
Bobby
Send me a note if you want pics, I have many but do not know how to down load to here.

If its a 4 door, probably not interested. A Hollywood 2 door hardtop, maybe. Which is it?0

If they dent isn't too far, you might be able to gently push it out by hand. Once you get about 1/2 way it should just 'Pop' out. That is how I fixed my 54' dent it had in the roof. Mind you the headliner was gone; if it is still in then... I do not know. it could work but the roof bows which support the headliner could be bent too.0

Thanks for the info. I cannot do the work due to medical problems. that is why I am selling, but dent is close to rear window and is too beefy to push out, with out porta power and some wood, but I have been told it is doable and without too much work. Glass and gasket are fine. I sent many pics to Paulargetype. If anyone wants it, shoot me an offer, I probably will take it. Have to clean house soon. thanks.Bob0

I'M SORRY TO SAY WITH THE DUCT TAPE ON THE REAR WINDOW IT LOOKS LIKE THE TREE FALLING ON THE CAR HAS DONE DAMAGE TO THE WAY THE REAR WINDOW FITS IN IT'S GROVE IT IS A SEDAN IT HAS BEEN PLAYED WITH IT HAS A 262 HEAD ON THE ENGINE I'M THINKING ITS A 308 AS IT IS A HORNET IT DOES HAVE SOME FLOOR AND FRAME ROT ON BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOORS AND WILL NEED ALOT OF UNIBODY REPAIR THIS CAR SITTING OUT IS NOT HELPING IT'S CHANCE OF BEING SAVED AS WATER IS ROLLING IN I'M THINKING IT'S NOT WORTH THE ASKING PRICE MORE LIKE UNDER $400 IT SHOULD HAVE A DUBBLE PULLY ON THE CRANK I'M THINKING A PARTS CAR FOR SOME ONE WHO NEEDS A ENGINE OR FRONT OR REAR WINDOW0

Bobby, may I suggest that you go ahead and send the ad to the WTN immediately? Don't wait until Memorial Day, because there is a reasonably long lead time to get the ad in the next issue. If you do sell the car before the ad comes out, so much the better. And you can simply say it's been sold, to those who respond to the ad.0

Thanks guys for all the help. I really appreciate it. Did you get the 51 Pacemaker Info I sent? We wanted to keep it for the summer, and then it is up for sale too. Again, really appreciate it.0

In regards to the response concerning the " has been played with" in regards to the engine, I have no idea what he means. Plus unless he is living next door, I doubt he would know if the " water is rolling in." Many 308's left the factory in 1955 with 308's and 262 heads on them. And to the leaking window, it is better to ask then to guess. The window does not leak, the duct tape was an effort of the kid that owned it, since he had no idea if it would leak and damage the interior. It did not, and is still sealed. The dent is such that some water sits in the dent and that is more of a worry of mine than the window gasket which again, does not leak. A very knowledgeable and professional mechanic friend of mine is going to pull it out for me and even help start the engine, which runs and as I said is a 308, all if we have time. I am not worried about the floors as they all rust out if the car sits in a open grass growing area. Thanks Jon B. for the WTN advice. You have always been so very helpful for many years, as have many of us old timers to each other.
So " I'm sorry to say, "&" I'm thinking ", it is worth a bit more than 4 bills, even as a parts car. We will try to save it, instead of carting it off to the Junk yard just yet. I have seen far worse off Hudson, and Hash cars escape that notion that fear brings, when the mention of "ALOT OF UNIBODY REPAIR" is the prognosis of "experts" when some rust is present in many cars far more [GONE] than this one. I do really appreciate the advice, and even that of some well meaning criticizers, but not all of it has to taken to heart. If we cannot laugh at ourselves, we are condemned to leaving that honor to others. Carry on boys.0 -
What Paul was saying that water leaks down from the wrap around front window dogleg, onto the floor area. These cars do not have a hefty frame like the step-downs. All the sheet metal on the floor area works as a frame too. These cars have been known to snap in two while being towed, if the frame area around the floorboards is rusted and weak. Advise to lift the car up and check out this area to be safe. This is from personal experience, owned 4 of them. '55's are getting rare, so hope this car can be saved.0

I get it now. I thought he was just picking on my Hash. I am a step down guy from 1962 to present. I have never even seen a Hudson over 1954 except from the street. Now I understand the strength they had in a unitized, but total loss of that support when a void was present. I did look over the frame on this one from underneath and see it is through the floors only in front. The rear is mostly surface and the running boards and center of the cars frame UTB, is in good shape. So I think it is savable. Even the outside and doors are alot of surface rust but really solid. Other wise, after 50+ years of dealing with Hudsons, I would have passed on this one. Will keep you informed on the dent and the article. And Paul knows I was pulling his short leg. We been dissing each other for 30 years. Thanks Nevada and Please give Paul some crap so he feels better after you coming to his rescue, or he will be impossible to deal with. Later Guys, your the Best.
Bye Paul, keep yer finger outcha fan kido.
