I think the straight eights are pretty rare cars. Owner says complete car, no rot. 4 door '33 straight 8 sedan. Craigslist Sacramento, Ca. $5000 or offer. I called and spoke with the owners brother. We're all getting up there now..this guys brother has Alzheimer's and the car needs to be sold. He is also selling his brother's '32 sedan which he says is a very nice car. Here is the link for the ad. I have no connection to any of this, i just saw the ad and thought hudson types would be less likely to cut an 80 year old hudson than others might. Regards, Tom

Hopefully someone from HET can save that 1933 straight 8 sedan.

    I only see one picture in the ad. But I think that's a '32-eight. Not a '33.

Need to see the side of the front fender, or the complete radiator shell/hood ornament.
Either would tell whether a 32 or 33. Is a Hudson, not an Essex Terraplane.

How about count the hood doors? It's got five. I believe that makes it '32. The '33 had four. Right?

If it is a '33 Hudson it would be fairly rare. I believe the number of remaining Hudsons (not Terraplanes) from that year is less than 20. The photo doesn't reveal much, but from what I can see the car looks pretty solid. It would be good to spread the word on this one!

I have already spread the word on the HET facebook page.

32's and 33"s had those cowl lights, and matching headlights. Almost 7,000 32's
produced. Around 3,000 33's. Very rare now.

Okay, let me get this straight. So it's got the doors, not louvers. The doors make it an eight in both '32 and '33. If it's only four doors then it's a '33 T-8. Right? As "Ken U-TX" said.
Aren't those style of lights optional in '32 and '33?

As far as I know, only the "senior" Hudsons had the triangular cowl lights. Terraplanes had fender lights. (But I'm no expert....)

Jon, you are correct. The way you tell at this angle, the difference between a 32 and a 33 Hudson 8 ? The 32 had two cowl vents. 33 had only one.

Oh wow, did not know that either. :)

So "senior" '32 or '33's had the triangle lights? Or both?

    Both.

What about that belt line detail? The top of that belt line looks smooth, not defined as a bead? Are they different from two to three?

Same lights, senior car, 32 and 33. Belt line the same also on 32 and 33. Another obvious difference, 32 had a little vent shade over the windshield, 33 did not. Then ther is the major series with custom bodies, which this is not, but that's for another day.

Okay, think I got it now. :D

Love the triangle lights! And the hood doors too! Cool car. :)

Jon - perhaps CRS setting in?????
Well as you pointed out in your article ANY '33 Hudson is very rare!
  • Yes, and Imagine if this was a Major 8 Brougham from 1933. Last I checked, NONE were known to have survived. Too bad, because IMHO, the are one of the Classiest Hudsons ever made......Can't beat that Blind rear quarter look!

Pete Jones had one, quite rusty, think he had it stashed at the Souer's Farm.

I will find a picture and post. More than likely it is beyond hope for restoration, and that is being said by the guy who restored the Jet convertible.

Frank, I think I have a copy of Doc Daugherty's home movie in which Pete (not YOU, Pete! LOL!) is cabling the brougham up onto an open car trailer, from its resting place in the woods.

I remember when that Pete, LOL, got it, sent me photos of it. It's the only one I've ever heard of & there are only 2 or 3 of the '32 broughams
