What is the bumper to bumper length of the 54 Hornet Special Club Sedan. My son Rick wants to know if it will fit in his garage. We are going to pick it up tomorrow morning and take it to his home.

    201.5" (5.12 meters) on a 119" wheel base for 53' and 54'
    207.5" (5.27 meters) on a 124" wheel base was the earlier 48' and 49' step-downs.

Is Christian moving the cars for you Lee?

    Commadorecollector,
Looks like another delivery delay. Driver doesn't want to unload on a uphill driveway. Found someone else to pick up and deliver Ricks car tomorrow.

    Brownie,
Thanks for the offer. I don't think Rick wants the car door cut up. Maybe cut out the back wall of the garage into the baby boys room so he can keep an eye on the Hudson. Five weeks old should be a good time to start dreaming about Hudsons don't you think?

I second that Lee. It's a great time to introduce the baby to hudsons.

He will be just the right age so that when he goes to the National this year he can have his picture taken in Doc Hudson.....

Today we picked up my son Ricks first Hudson. 1954 Hornet Special Club Sedan. Flat bed hauler could not get to the car so we pushed it about 100 ft from behind garage and palm tree to load it. Part of the ground was covered with dried out fox tails. Unfortunately that was exactly the halfway spot we stop to regain our breath. The fox tails laying flat on the ground made shoe traction slippery. It was like trying to start pushing a car on ice. Got're moving and loaded.

Those who bought cars there know what it was like pushing their cars.

    Brownie,
Won't need your sawsall. Ricks garage is alot deeper than I thought.

Here are a few photos on its trip to new home.

P.S. Will need to get door and trunk keys made to see what surprise may be in trunk. Also, to free up hood latch to see engine. One of the car bought had a SBC in the trunk.

Lee, my keys were in the jocky box. It is worth a try-perhaps George put them all there? Good looking car Lee--love those broughams.....

Dual exhaust on the brougham, does it have the stock engine or did it get swapped?
Beautiful car anyhow, nice to see it in person too!
Could you post I picture when you open the trunk for the first time in many many years of what is inside.. that would be interesting to see.

Brownie, my 47 from the stagg property had one of its keys in the ignition, which made it a little bit easier. But I never found keys that would work with my 1954 when I was there last Saturday....

My 54 Hornet was full of 1940 Ford Parts. It was fun to open the trunk and find it full to the brim as a storage unit. Never thought to take a photo. I did find a small tie bar with the name George on it. Always fun to find stuff in a car you buy..... This is the only car I have purchased that I did not find money in it.

Lee, curiosity has me wondering what type car is in the garage partially covered up. The Hornet Special club sedan looks much better out of the back yard. I really like the long roofline. If I were rich instead of good looking, I would have one 54 of each body style. Ha Ha

I ask my son Rick what the chopped top custom is. It is not what I would expect to be a candidate for customizing.

It started as a 1954 Chrysler Windsor. Rick will be repairing someones botched chop job. To repair the roof line there is a roof, to be used, removed from the back half off a 47 Hudson 4dr parts car. He says the Hudson roof line is the right shape to fix what was done to the Windsors roof line.

Right now he is busy repairing rusty Alfas. Forming and welding in body parts to repair major rust out.

Anyone wanting rust repairs can contact Rick at 818 515 6472.
