Tom I could take the bolts from my Hornet and measure them, but you could do the same!

OF COURSE I KNOW I COULD REMOVE A COUPLE OF BOLTS FOR REFERENCE, BUT WHAT I WAS HOPING TO DO IS ALREADY HAVE SOME GUIDE BOLTS PREPARED BEFORE I BEGIN THE PROJECT OF REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH.

DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE THIS DIFFICULT GETTING SIZES ON VERY COMMON BOLTS BUT IT HAS BEEN LIKE PULLING TEETH

    Tom,

I went out to my garage and found the guide studs for the bell housing to block that I made when I installed the transmission in my 1950 Pacemaker 50-A. I also took a picture indicating the length, 4". Note the large one is 7/16 - 14 and the small one is 3/8 - 16. I know that there are a few members of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club - Northwest Chapter that live in your area, and I am sure that they would be glad to help you with your transmission R&R if you were to ask. I know those people would help out a friend as I was president of the Northwest Chapter a few years back before moving to Kansas.

Since I went out of my way to do you this favor, maybe you could do one for me? Could you please explain to me why you choose not to renew your membership in the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club?

i used close to what John did above. i actually used the 7/16" head bolts i use for head/gasket alignment. i took 2 old head bolts and cut the hex cap off and then cut a slot in the end i can use a flat screwdriver to install/remove. the head bolt lenth worked great for me. i think the tranny bolts were larger like 1/2", but i installed it to bell housing while it was out and installed them as one- so i didn't need alignment studs for it.
