In the stuff I recently purchased, there was a huge 400 lb. crate full of new glass windshields. In addition to the dozen W62 and W63 pieces (48-53 stepdown), there were some bigger ones. Numbers 338 and 309. Anyone know what these fit?
I was guessing maybe the smaller of the two was Jet and the other 54 Hornet/Wasp, but not positive. They may be Hash?

    :-O
    are they NOS?
  • Should be easy to tell if one is a 54 full size Hudson as it would be basicly the same size as a pair of the 48-53 stepdown ones together,

Not sure if they have date stamps but will look. These were crated in 1974 and shipped to Denver from Canada. I think they are PPG.

309 is 53-54 Jet windshield. 338 is a 54 stepdown, all. Too bad, no #8249 for rear backlight for 52-54 coupes. If no date code bugs, they can be purchased at Roy Nacewicz Carlton Glass.

Awesome! Thanks for the info guys. Confirmed what I was thinking. It looks like I have 3 tinted Jet, I tinted 54 and 2 clear, and a whole bunch of the clear 48-53. I will look for stamps when I go to the shop tomorrow. I would be surprised if they are from the early 50's, but they are at least older than 1974.

Has anyone ever shipped windshields? Suggestions?

The 48-53 should be easy, I was more concerned about the 54 and Jet Windshields. Maybe I can go to a glass shop and see what they get theirs delivered in.

We use these guys to build crates for fragile/odd items we need to ship: http://www.cratek.com/ Works good for us, their price beats what we can do material and time wise.
  • You are right I was visualising split windshields

Don, I would be interested in a Jet windshield. I have a friend bringing a car back to N.Z., so could put in the back seat.

I didn't see any date codes. Most of them had PPG logo and ASI 93 and a couple had LOF logo.
