Vacuum advance for an 8
Comments

Hi, I probably would look for an earlier dist. (37-47) without the vacuum advance.
I remember hearing at a tech session from Bernie Siegfried,(Hudson engineer) that
the 48-49 8 cyl. had too much advance with the vacuum unit. Often leading to broken
piston. His advice was to use the earlier dist.
Food for thought and discussion.

Terrill Machine in Texas rebuilds your original vacuum advance with a new diaphram. I currently have one there being done. $75 and 3 week turn around.
Since it wasn't working before when I was driving the car, I took it off the dizzy, taped over the hole and am still driving waiting for it to come back.
