Hydraulic Lifters Hudson

Have a company willing to make the plungers for hydraulic lifters for Hudson. Any interest out there ? Also I am now stocking complete motor parts for 35-56 engines including pistons, rings, pin bush, main, rod, cam bearings, gasket sets, lifters, guides, valves, valve springs, etc. Now have in stock aftermarket harmonic balancers to which a single or double pulley can be attached. I am now a distributor for Wilcap --have complete adapter kits for 350-400 trans & 700 overdrive. Contact Randy Maas maasfh@centurylink.net or call 309-267-6158

    Randy,
Good to know that you are a distributer for Wilkap. Will they make more manual transmission (MT) adapters/ I know when I ordered mine, they made it "special" to order. Also, new hydraulic plungers would be a great addition. I've had to replace two in my 308 and had only "better" used ones to install. I've checked around for substitutes, the flathead Cadillac 322 plungers (available through Kantor) are too big. I still don't know for sure if early Chrysler 331 hemi plungers will work, they are impossible to find as they were replaced routinely with one piece units. Kantor lists two plungers for Packard, one for the small straight 8 and another for the big straight 8, however, they have been on back-order for some time and I don't know if they will work. The problem with the plunger-style hydraulics is that they had two weak points, the spring cap was prone to failure and you must use lash caps and the check ball fouls if the oil becomes dirty. Partial filtration doesn't help. I run a high detergent synthetic oil, have the partial flow filtration (modern spin-on filter), and I monitor the oil for cleanliness. When they are ok, they are great, no adjusting and very quiet!
