Hello everyone,

Has anyone used this gold ceramic engine paint from Eastwood? And how close is the color to the Hudson gold? I like the fact that Eastwood has an activator for it but if the color is way off it may not be worth it.

Thanks,
Jairo.

I get mine at Napa, Cadillac gold, much cheaper and a good match.

Also, do I need a different paint product for the exhaust manifold? Engine paints only go up to 650 degrees, while high heat paint goes up to ~ 2,000 degrees. Any advise on that? I think the exhaust was also gold, correct?

@ Nevada Hudson, do you have a part number? I looked in the napa webside but didn't find it. thx.

Eastwood has a "cast iron grey" 1800 degree manifold paint. With proper prep of the manifold surface, it works great. Several hundred miles on my Hornet now since using that paint, and it still looks great. Dupli-color 500 degree engine paint, at NAPA and other parts stores, in "Universal Gold," is a perfect match to original Hornet engine gold. Good stuff.

Isn't the color for the 1948 Hudson engine silver? Somebody painted my engine gold and somehow I don't think that's right.
  • 48-50s were painted silver or aluminum. The 51 and 52 Hornets were paint, according to my can of NOS bronze engine enamel. The 54 Hornets were painted a shade of red. Don't know about the 53 Hornets. Its been to long ago.
