I'm gonna start a new post here with an update from Walt. I got an email from him this morning.

"Flat on my back and will be out of service for at least 2 months. Once they opened my knee it was worst than they thought. I had been walking to long and really wore the bone away. Pain is really bad. I may even miss our nationals, "

I told him to bring his flea market stuff to his room and make arrangements with the meet co-ordinators to direct people to go see him. Also told him he could maybe overhaul carburetors in his room. Hey, it's a thought - would keep him busy and less antsy to get up and get going again.

So, once it's known where he's recuperating maybe some of you could get over to see him and cheer him up. He'd love it.

Thanks for the update, Alex. I hope Walt can make the National, it is right in his backyard!
  • Alex, they all know I'm one busy boy but for now all work must stop to get this knee back to normal, doctore's orders. Thanks for spreading the word. Long trip, 23 miles, I was going to go to Florida, then to the national and maybe the longest driver. I was told no way. Wait till you see the trophys we are giving out, no national even came close. My leg is on a machine working it up and down for 2 hours, then later another 2 hours while flat on my back. Old iPad sure is coming in handy. Miss our nasty talk. 2 months, ouch that hurts. Walt.

  • Alex, when Jim took my iPad to have apple up grade it, when at our Friday lunch with the old gang! A Friday get together, I used my partner's iPad and now I have to have Jim fix it back. Walked 2 hundred feet yesterday with a walker and this morning my ankle is all black and blue. They say normal. Staples come out Friday, no more sewing you up, staple gun now. My knee looks like a cardboard box. Walt

Staples and super glue are the stitches of today. They super glued my finger together when I caught it in a v-belt pulley. LOL

Great news - sooner you start mobilating sooner you'll get back to them carburetors.

    Good luck.

Great story, Ken- as they say, "You can't make this stuff up!" How fast did you get out of the pants and into the shower? Trouble is, water doesn't help much on most of that hydrocarbon stuff with nastyness added, other than to get rid of the excess so there's less to sting you.

The mental picture is priceless. . .

  • Alex, today I got some good news. After being examed by the doc, he said all is fine, no sign of blood problems and is healing very good. Tuesday I get shipped home and will have exercise to do twice a day. Who knows, I may stiil make the national walking again. More news later. Walt.

Great news Walt. Here's hoping you can make the National - but if you do, don't overdo it.
