7X intake manifold?

I have a 7X exhaust manifold and elbow attached to the twin H intake manifold. Is there a different intake specific to the 7X exhaust manifold? I can not find a 7X intake casting number listed in the parts book.

LEE THE EXHAUST WILL NOT FIT ON A REGULATOR TWIN H INTAKE IT HAS TO BE 7X YEARS AGO TOMMY SUTTON FROM VA. WENT O A CAR THAT WE KNEW HAD A 7X SET UP ON IT IT WAS AROUND 3 HR. DRIVE FOR HIM HE WENT AND TOOK OFF THE EXHAUST AND CAME BACK HOME AFTER TRYING TO MATE IT UP TO A REG MANAFOLD HE HAD TO MAKE THE SAME TRIP BACK TO GET THE OTHER HALF HE WAS NOT A HAPPY CAMPER

I have two engine with Twin H intakes and regular exhaust manifolds. The intake cast number on both is 307093. The intake attached to the 7X exhaust manifold is 307093. All three have the same cast number and I see no physical difference between them. However, I have not removed the carbs to see if there may be a different size intake bore diameter. I also have a 55 Twin-H engine with intake cast # 5325118. There is no way the 7X exhaust manifold will bolt to the 55 intake manifold. Different stud locations

Is it possible Tommy Sutton Twin-H intake was a 55 or 56?

Was the 307093 intake manifold also used along with 7X exhaust manifold with 7X engine?

I found it interesting the sever usage parts listed the 7X engine could be ordered with 3 different bore diameters. However, I could find no listing for a special 7X intake manifold.

Maybe Walt or someone will have the answer.

NO IT WAS NOT A 55,56 MANAFOLD I'LL SEE HIM AT DOC'S MEET AND I'LL ASK BUT ALMOST SURE THE WAY I TILD IT IS THE WAY IT WAS

NOW IT'S COMING BACK TO ME TOM ONLY TOOK THE SPLIT PART WHERE THE MANAFOLD BOLTS TO THE PIPE THAT PART WILL NOT FIT ON A REG EXHOIUST MANAFOLD

The following pictures are of a factory 7X engine mounted on a factory engine stand designed for dealer engine display. This particular engine was sold by John Sonoff and was later installed in a restored Hornet coupe. The two pictures show the individual manifold and exhaust pieces.

Looks like what I have. My screen is not large enough to read the intake casting number. Can you tell what it is?

PAULARGETYPE that clears up the missunderstanding about matching up Int & exh manifolds. Thanks.

Sorry, the casting numbers in the pictures I have are all at too oblique and angle to view them.

Thanks for the pictures and trying to help. There was one of the NOS exhaust pipes on ebay recently. I was interested until the price got more than I could have one made.

  • MY FRIEND SOLD A TRUE 7X EXHAUST PIPE AND CAST ADAPTERS TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON EBAY ABOUT 3 OR 4 MOUTHS AGO. AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS THE SAME AS MY 52 EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITH TWIN H.

Here is a photo of a 7X exhaust elbow on the right and a copy 7X exhaust elbow on the left. I was attempting to show the difference between the bolt hole spread between both. The spread between the two are not even close. The 7X bolt hole spread is larger but in the photo it appears just the opposite.

The divider on the 7X elbow and 7X exhaust manifold meet with a gasket in between.

The copy 7X elbow divider is sunk in to allow the exhaust damper to work on Twin-H exhaust manifold or 2 barrell exhaust manifold.

However, because of the mounting bolt hole spread difference, neither elbow are interchangeable.

Also, the 7X exhaust manifold outlet is 1/2 inch shorter It's made without damper. Both exterior exhaust manifold styles appear similar at first glance. I had to take a closer look at both the first time I saw one to see the difference

Now back to original question. Is the Twin-H intake manifold the same manifold used on the 7X engine or was there a special manifold for the 7X engine and what would the casting number be? Or was the Twin-H manifold modified in any way by Hudson for use on the 7X engine?

Chris, that is the same casting # the other two Hornets had, that had 7X exhaust. Which is also the same casting number for Twin-H cars without 7X exhaust.

Perhaps that is the only manifold used for all Twin-H 308's including 7x engines.

    Who might know for sure???

Twin H exhaust manifold and 7X exhaust manifold comparison.

7X exhaust manifold below standard exhaust manifold
