I know this topic has been covered before but the search feature on the forum won't return anything. Can anyone remind me which AMC motor mounts will fit on a 53 Hornet.

Hi There,
The Napa # on Ken's site is an MM-2280. It appears to be from their old number system but they should be able to cross it over to the new numbering system or reference it as to fitting Rambler Ambassador, AMC Hornet, Javelin or Gremlin. I got my rear mount for my 3spd OD from Lester Harris but it was his last one. I have seen several listed on EBAY (under the Buy It Now section at the end of the regular listings)and with the Fine Hudson parts retailers who frequent this site.

The Amc mounts are probably the better part to use because they have an interlock like modern engine mounts, therefore the motor can't move forward into the radiator

Usually ships in 24 hours. BK

This is what you need from Napa
My parts buddy got me the AMC mounts in, when I get back to town, I'll pick them up. About eight bucks a piece so you can't beat that.

I sent you an e mail about a week ago about this. In that e mail I mentioned the AMC mounts and referred to Dave Sallon or Ken K. and left it at that. I since looked up the numbers, but I see someone has offered the correct number already .
I prefer the napa ones because of the engine stop for front end accidents to keep the fan out of the radiator. Have fun. You will need nuts with the AMC ones too. Don't forget. And ask for the Pacer ones not the Gremlin the price is different in most cases but the part is the same

I run the AMC motor mounts too..I found that I was ripping the stud through the rubber on one side of the engine with the old hudson mounts, but that doesn't seem to happen with the AMC mounts. But that's not the only AMC parts on my car- I am also running a heavy duty sway bar from an old gremlin with a V8. It is larger in diameter than the factory Hudson sway bar.

Wow a sway bar from a Gremlin V8 will fit a stepdown. Now that I would have never guessed. Of course I wouldn't know where to begin to find one of those. They have to be as rare as a Hudson itself. I did put Polyurethane end links and support on the bar I have which helped quite a bit, especially since my rubber ones were mostly rotted away. They were off the shelf pieces from Energy Suspension.

When I went to NAPA Kens old # MM-2280 converts to 6021162 which looks right as it has a single bolt while the 6021182 has two bolts so can't be right.
51hornetA,
I did the same thing and the 1182 were nowhere close while the 1162 have the correct mounting holes and the single stud, only square with a stop and only six dollars and change.

Update to present...May 13, 2013.
I just bought these mounts from Advanced Discount Auto parts. I placed the order "on line" and picked them up at my local store in an hour.. Attached is a picture of one sitting on a stepdown chassis. The cost was $8.09 each plus our 6% sales tax. The part number (2330) on the box is an industry number so should cross over to other brands.. Listed for a 85 AMC Concord. Note they must be mounted in one orientation so not to bind with the engine cross member. The built in safety is that the left front will not rise off the frame if the rubber fails. That can cause clutch linkage problems and locked throttle linkage!!! I know from experience. These are Available, safe ,cheap and an improvement. They don't look original, but how many look that deep in your engine compartment (That know what they are looking at!)0
