Day One of "Doc's Meet"
The first official event of the 50th annual Doc's Apple Blossom Meet (which has been designated this year's Eastern Regional Meet) took place this afternoon under partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low seventies. We met at a shopping center just outside Winchester, Virginia, and convoyed to a large private collection of autos and automobilia. I think about 15 Hudsons were involved in the caravan. We then convoyed over 26 miles of scenic roads to the Museum of the Shenandoah, a regional museum complex outside Winchester that includes an old mansion and 6 acres of gardens, as well as a large, modern museum building with extensive exhibits on life in the Shenandoah Valley. We had a luncheon in a banquet room there, then toured the museum and grounds. Although the skies were cloudy, I drove with the top down all afternoon and didn't get wet!
Tomorrow, meet attendees will take self-guided tours around town, or to various vineyards in the country surrounding Front Royal, Va. We're expecting temperatures to hit 81 degrees. There may be a thunderstorm or two, here or there. In the evening we'll have the traditional pot luck dinner.
There's more on Saturday and Sunday! If you happen to live anywhere within driving distance of Front Royal, do come out and join us sometime this weekend! There's a flyer online at http://cbc.hetclub.org/images/CBC_Events/2013DocsMeetflyer.pdf

Maybe, when it's over! I'm home now and when I go back to the meet tomorrow, I won't be back to my computer til Sunday night.0

I put some pics on Facebook (HET) page. I'll add some to the HET forum as well.0

Meet's over! I'm biased, but thought it was a good one. Facts and figures to follow. Weather was a mixed bag with some rain and warm weather, Sunday's show at the Skyline caverns was cool (in the 60's) but sunny and dry.0
