Hi All! If you were going to send your Hudson off for a bit of a restoration, who would you send it to? Thanks! Joseph

  • Don't know about others but I do my own. SuperDave does them as well. To me thats the educational part . Driving them is great but if you can have a knowledge firsthand of how they were made it's like icing on the cake.
  • I live in Las Cruces, NM. I can appreciate doing it myself, but I prefer to get it done right and sooner vs later. I love my Hudson, but she needs some freshening. Thanks for the feedback guys! Seems like there aren't too many shops out there that do the Hudson work.... Ill start making some phone calls.

Since you are in the Southwest, might try Al Saffrahn in AZ.

    or Chris Davis in Ill.
  • Yes, Al is the man.... I just visited him and his place in Maricopa. He has been doing Hudson work since he was 11 years old!! He also has a waiting list ,but call him and talk to him. I have seen nothing that was built better than what I saw at Al's place.

Fellow in Las Vegas bought a '52 Hornet coupe from me, and he had a local guy do a lot of work on it. He was very happy with the work. I'll get the guy's contact info for you.

If you are talking about a StepDown, there is no way to do a frame-off restoration as they are "unibody" Mono-Bilt cars. '47 and earlier can be done off the frame.

  • Thanks for all the great leads!!! What a good group!
  • Would anyone happen to know how to get a hold of Al? Email address or phone number?

I guess it would be a normal question to ask at this time: Are you a member of the Hudson, Essex Terraplane club? Near the back of each edition there are a number of contacts for different products. The Forum is full of Hudson nutz, but not to the number in the National club. If you need a copy of the WTN I can send you one. You can check out our website at HETclub.org

Brownie, on the hetclub website there are previous WTN's uploaded so if he is already a member or once he joins he will have access to them.

Thanks Chris. As a Regional Director the HET sends us extra WTN's to use for folks who for some reason did not get theirs or for use with prospective members that we meet at car shows and such. I normally give mine away (Including my personal copy) after I have read and reread it. Anyway, it helps with telling the world what a great investment a Hudson is. There are more than a dozen Hudson's on ebay today and all (well almost all) are a great buy. My pick of the litter is the 47.......
