54 Hornet drums onto 47 PU?

Is it the inner bearing or the outer bearing that needs to be changed in the 54 Hornet hub before installing onto 47 Hudson PU spindle? Since I am parting out my 54 Hornet I might as well use the 54 front brakes and backing plate for my 47 PU.

Second question. For example: if it is the inner bearing that must be changed, will the inner bearing and race from the 47 PU fit in the 54 hub? Same example if it is the outer bearing that needs changing. The reason for asking is the PU has new bearings and I would switch into 54 hub if I know they will fit.

If not what bearing and seal P/Ns will be needed?
Thanks for answer.

    FYI
You need to bolt on the whole '54 setup including backing plates. The bearing that needs switched interchanges with the other Race just fine. (One Brg ID is different with identical Race). Ive retrofit Hornet Brakes twice on1937's, but tonite I dont recall which brg needed switched. I found on '37's I needed to use a 1/8" Spacer Washer because the '54 Hubs are slightly narower; Perhaps '47 wont need the spacer. If needed buy a Grade 8 Washer at Lowes to use as Spacer..

The ID and OD of the small front hub bearing is the same from 34 to 54. The OD of the large bearing is the same right through but the ID changes for stepdowns. As has been said the stepdown hub is a little shorter than the early ones so you need a spacer.

The backing plate bolt pattern and centre hole is identical 34 to 54

Thank you Ol racer and Bob Ward for your help. That is what I wanted to know. Since the bearings on the PU are new I'll be able to reuse them in the 54 hub.

Is the grease seal the same for 47 & 54?
    Thanks again.
