I seem to have forgotten which way the door armrest and pulls and quarter armrests point on our car.Is it the fatter
end goes to the front and the thinner end points back. Ray

Thin part facing to the back of the car Ray, so that you don't hit your knuckles on the window crank.
SMS put my door pulls on backwards, and did not attach them correctly. You can't put door panels on, with door pulls stapeled from the inside only...

Um, actually the tapered (thinner) part faces the front of the vehicle on a '54. Look at the interior pictures of Hudson ads for '54 and you can see what I mean. Hope this helps.

Hi Tim Does that also apply for the rear armrests in our hollywood. Ray

Hi Duncan. I believe that is correct but I haven't seen back seat interior shots of Hollywoods in the ads, only sedans which shows the tapered ends facing the front. The former owner of our car however, attached the rear armrests with the tapered ends facing the rear. I haven't been concerned enough about it to change them. Have a good day.

OK I have to eat grass, and I don't know what I was thinking of. ON the first pic you will see my old door panel as it cam from the factory. That is CORRECT. I then send the panel to SMS, never again, and the second pic shows that they put the pulls on backwards. Third pic I had the upholstery shop change the door pulls back to CORRECT. Thin part to the front for the window crank so you don't bust your knuckles on the door pull.

Rear panel armrests in any car 1954 are the same as the fronts, to clear the window crank.
Mine are wrong, and will leave them that way.

Front and rear are reversed in two doors, thin to front on door, thin to rear on rear panel.
