"37 Terraplane brakes

Finally began the brake job on my '37 Terraplane. Pulled the front drums and shoes, glad I did as I found a couple broken springs on one wheel. The wheel cylinders have brown crud in them, though they do not feel pitted inside. One of the broken springs was the eccentric which goes horizontalyy from a bracket to the secondary brake shoe. My manual says to adjust the brake shoe by using a feeler gauge on the ecentric. There is the adjuster star wheel at the bottom, so why do we need the eccentric? Also, are the hold down springs the same from '36-'54? Wheel cylinder kits are available, putting in a new master cylinder and brake hoses. The shoes have riveted linings that I hope can be replaced with bonded brake lining. Is the master cylinder the same from '36 to '47? Any help and advice is appreciated deeply. Thanks, Arnie in Nevada.

Last I knew, Auto Zone listed shoes #151 for 46/47. Same size as your 37. I had to drill a hole for the secondary cam.

The master cyl is a Dorman 4360. Buy from RockAuto, Napa etc. about $60. Rockauto lists a lot of the springs, kits, etc for a 47

these are 1 in bore wheel cylinders which should fit and are available new at your parts store

Thanks Uncle Josh, I am pulling the rear drums and am glad that I did. Who knows when this car had a brake overhaul last. It really needs an overhaul on the brakes. When I get them done, I can get out and drive this Terraplane for awhile, looking foreward to that. Next are the headlights, turn signals to be installed and left door glass, almost forgot, wipers. I live in a desert so I forgot about that wet stuff known as rain. Thanks again, Arnie in Nevada.
