In need of some help
I am needing to locate a windshield wiper knob for my 1939 Series 92. I am lucky to have all the other knoobs in the car and the windshield wiper knob is there but damaged. Any one have one or can point in the direction of who may have one? Or how I may get one?
Many Thanks

Probably be best to post a picture of what it looks like. Someone might have one and not know that it is a '39 knob.0

There isnt enough of it left to make out what it looked like. Best I can tell it looked like the old door lock knobs from cars in the 60's. Just not as tall. I can posta pic from the parts manual but it shows in on the dash and it isnt very clear.0

Maybe you could fashion a temporary replacement from an actual old plastic door lock knob. I'd think there would be a lot of those around (they were almost universal in the 30's, 40's and 50's) and you might even find one that matched the color of the rest of the plastic knobs in your car. They tended to fit over a threaded rod (that ran down into the door) and the wiper control was also a rod of about the same diameter (though knurled at the end). You could squirt epoxy into the hole then push the knob over the rod. If you sawed off 3/4" of the lock knob, maybe it would resemble the original wiper knob!

This is what dash knobs look like on this 1939 92. What would be the color of the knobs on you 1939 92.0

Look around at other car clubs that need similar items. All the Packard, Chevy, Ford etc. knobs are reproduced. I'm sure there is something VERY similar among them.0

I either have or had one for a '39, have to go out & check.
I restored a '39 CC8 bus. cp. & a '39 BB PU & have some stuff "left over" so to speak. I'm bringing it all to San Mateo but will try & remember to go out & look. I have an NOS carb. for the 212 engine but a guy has asked about it already (no $$ yet tho).
My problem: I live in Phoenix, aft. temps for last 2 weeks avg. 105 so garage gets & stays VERY hot which is one reason I'm leaving here later this summer!0 -
as only 8 in a.m. still cool in garage. Have my stuff out to pack for National, looked around & found an NOS '39 CC series gas gauge, new in box but couldn't find the windshield wiper control knob.
I had a pickup full of stuff I gave to Al Saffrahn to sell for me about 1 1/2 years ago. He has sold a lot of it, quite a bit went to Sweden where he has some very good customers & he will be coming to San Mateo with stuff to sell, what I have no idea.0 -
Thanks All! Ok didusay39, the color would be about what I see in the pic you posted. Although the radio in my car looks different that that. oldhudsons, I appreciate your looking for me. Ken U -Tex, Im not sure, it may have. StillOutThere, I would hope that they do but as we that own the hudson cars know that chevy parts a dime a dozen an the hudson can be a little more difficult to find. Jon B, that is what I may have to do if all else fails, are they hard to come by? AGain thanks to all who have responded0

To answer your question (are they hard to come by?), no, they are sold by companies offering repro parts for Fords and Chevvies. But, keep your eyes open, especially at Hudson flea markets, the real thing sometimes turns up amongst boxloads of parts.0

Another color. Part of a set that I have. Not sure about year. Ivory colored lever on the bottom might be used as stock that one might be able to turn down and fab. a knob. You are welcome to have the lever if you would like it.
