1947 Hudson Truck value
I have a 1947 Truck that is all stock but has been sitting in the garage for 50 yrs. I think I want to sell it but don't know what it's value is as it sits. Has never been wrecked. My father drove it to work all the time and then just parked it and there it has been since the early 60's. I might keep it if someone knows how much it costs to restore it, and I can afford it. Any help would be great.

Where are you located?0

The truck is in the L.A. area. La Puente, Cal.0

To get the best Idea you would need to show some photos .The value could vary quite a lot depending upon its current condition,

I'm headed down there on Monday. My dad passed away and now I have to take care of all of his estate. I'll have some pics next week. The only thing that's not stock is it has red and white tuck and roll and chrome rims. I'm not sure if the spotlights are stock. There is even a 6 pack of Hudson wet clutch fluid behind the seat. I think that is a good find. But, what do I know. I don't remember it having any rust. It's been in the garage all this time. Next week will tell.0

Look forward to seeing the pics!0

Does anyone have a suggestion on someone to transport the truck? I live in Southern Oregon and the truck is in LaPuente, Cal. There are also 6 other cars I have to move or sell. Most are European. It doesn't look like there is much interest in them. Thanks to all for your input.0

Post photos of all the cars here. You will get some good direction. can't wait to see the truck.0

I live not far from LaPuente. I'm in Ontario, familiar with the Hudson trucks. I could take a look if you like.0

Bent metal - Thanks, I'll let you know more when I get down there. I'm leaving here tomorrow and will be there on Tues. Thanks again.0

Well, here are some pics of the truck. I hope this works, newbe posting pics on this forum. It's in pretty rough shape. I just can't figure out why things don't look the same as they did 40 yrs. ago. It's a real project for someone I guess. Not me.

Possibly the best thing would simply be to put them on Ebay and see what they will bring. If you do, then announce the Hudson auction here, so you'll attract Hudson enthusiasts to the bidding. Put as much as you can about the truck. For example, open the hood and see what kind of engine it has. Might have a newer Hudson engine (which would be okay; Hudson guys are always souping these things up with Hornet or straight eight engines).
As to the foreign cars, don't assume they're worthless just because no one has expressed interest in them yet. One suggestion would be to go to a forum for that particular make of car and post a message to the effect that the car's for sale. (Much as you have done here at the Hudson site). Even if the cars are bedraggled and rusty, they could supply much-needed parts for a restoration. Or, possibly the cars are rare and worth restoration themselves.

I like it.0

Looks worthy to me, some one will want it. Doors look tuff. I've seen worse for sale that sell.0
-
Worst thing on these is if the frame rails are rotten under the bed that's a lot to deal with. Those doors can be fixed and looks like its got most of the trim and glass in tact,

I don't think I've seen a truck with a roof antenna.

Any other pictures? How is the frame?0

WELL IT DOES COME WITH FRONT TIRE CHAINS FOR THOSE BRUTAL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WINTERS..LOL0

Whats with the cracks in the front fender where it meets the running board?
My 46 has the exact same issue? I thought it was caused by the fact that someone put car fenders on It and has applyed gookum pluck to make the car fender meet the truck running board but this truck look original?0 -
Has anyone had a chance to see this truck yet?0
-
Didn't mention his timeline on having to move the cars?
moving 6 cars..must be at least a couple hundred a piece..might be better to sell them in place.
I wish you were closer..got a empty trailer that truck would look nice on0 -
I went and looked. I bought the truck. Going to pick it up in a week or so.
It's going to need everything gone through, the doors are rusted out, not sure about the floors. Yes it has car fenders. So something will have to be done there too. But, that's what I needed was another project.0 -
Have fun with that project!0

Thanx for saving another one bent metal.

Guy.
You saved me from buying another PU. ha ha. Although 4 PU's would have been a nice even number.
I know it is in good hands and will be cruising again. What engine does it have in it?

Now that you mention it the fenders are a slightly different shade of red. Indicating they may have been worked on or replaced long ago. Not to mention the crack pointed out earlier,

AWESOME ! That truck looks very solid compared to my Russell. The Hudson pick ups have LOTS of character .

What's the difference between a truck front fender and a car front fender on the '46-'47's?0
-
Truck fenders were made to fit and flow in to the exposed running board. The cars did not as the running boards were hidden by the flare out of the doors.
I keep seeing older restored trucks with car fenders and the tell tale crack of old bondo, like my truck.0 -
Thank you, Paul. That makes perfect sense. Should have thought of that.0
