Have a safe trip! No apologies needed! You worked hard and...you'll be driving! Can't wait to see it all dressed up with the running boards. Will look for it in San Mateo! Michel0

I heard, or read somewhere the flooring for the box, including the metal strips, are the same as early '50's shevy - or whenever they used a wooden floor.

You could order wood beds in Chevy pick ups. A friend of mine had a 74 with wood bed.
He ordered the truck new.0 -
I bought my wood kit from Perry Spring plus new stainless strips and bolt kit. His kit is made with Red Oak and made to fit around the inner wheel wells protruding inside the bed. Also, grooves were cut into the lengths of the boards for those metal strips to set in. A nice finishing touch.
Have a great day.

Great looking P/U ! Good luck on your trip. What gear ratio do you have in the rear end??

Forget the PURIST,It would never make the trip. That is why my 53 has air, cruise control, 12 volts, alternator, AMC fuel pump with a back up electric fuel pump, a 4 core radiator, full gauges and much more, that is the only way to travel, 11 trips ocean to ocean, and 142,000 miles. And yes I changed the rear ratio from 3:08 to 2:78 and can cruise all day at 75 to 90. Make it a driver. Walt.0

How in the world did it come out 3 times????0
-
You're stuttering Uncle Walt. LOL

We will have to drink beer in the parking lot in your honor!
Aunt Hester too!0 -
well I'm prepping for the sojourn west - got a pc. of plywood to use for table to "show my wares" - updated book, lit., and memorabilia list just finished as ad to be in WTN coming out next week. Going to try & make inventory list of old seals I have, some going back into the '20s but most in '30s; have the National #s etc. but laborious doing it + can only work in early a.m. in garage due to heat!
Gonna mosey up via state Rte. 49 thru the Gold Rush Country, stay overnight in Nevada City, then down to San Mateo on the 24th. Will return to the dry hot desert via Santa Barbara.

my best Hudson friend will be bringing this '33 T8 conv., an ex-Harrah's car0
-
this photo taken last year at Gettysburg0
-
Harrah's had 2 '33 T8 conv., the other one still "lost in L.A." so to speak, LOL (had dual sidemounts, pretty original)0
-
I remember that car in G'burg - a really, really nice car. We should have gotten a picture of Dave McWalters 32 roadster, this one and Jim Digiorigo's 34 convert all together. Just having those 3 together is a rare event.

Now having a problem with the '56 Hornet Special that I was going to drive to the National. The Vibration Damper is making a banging noise!0
-
Here's a pic of Dave's '32 E-T rd., which I sold him.0
-
he did a wonderful job; was a nice rust-free Calif. car to start with, only know of one other0
-
in many respects I found the literally "untouched" '38 H8 conv. brougham my favorite car at the meet0
-
'ol Terraplane Kelly would have gone berserk if he'd ever seen it, LOL.0
-
Pete, Dave said, one time during the resto project on that '32 "that the body was in the body shop, the engine was in the engine shop, the interior was in the interior shop - and my wallet is in the pawn shop." LOL

That's a good pic of the '38, Pete. Such a handsome car. I really love the '38 Hudsons.0
-
Alex - love that, TY, Pete0

well, the time has arrived to "get it in gear" so to speak,
Crammed my Acura wagon, don't think I could squeeze another owners manual in! Had hoped to have room for a box of tools but no go so picked the factory steering wheel puller out & got it in. Have some parts, the dealership clock, & several boxes of lit.
Hope weather will be OK; just checked my route via Kingman, Az., Needles, Ca., & Barstow for this a.m. & ALL have forecasts of heavy thunderstorm activity, sure didn't expect that!!! Figure will make Bakersfield today then up into the Gold Rush Country on Tues. (going to stay overnight in quaint Nevada City) then down to San Mateo Wed., should be there mid-afternoon.
Sure looking forward to seeing all my old HET cronies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
just checked Nat'l. weather forecast & all of no. Arizona & most of So. Calif. desert & mt. areas have "Heavy Thunderstorm" activity warnings -hmmm, might not get as far today as I'd thought but have no reservation for tonight so no problem.
Slight chance of rain in San Mateo today & tomorrow, from Wed. on to be nice, great!0
